Excel/WCF access token
Access to visual energy objects via MS Excel is granted using an access token. This also means that with every single data request, the token is sent and a corresponding permission check is carried out for the object. This ensures that data queries are always subject to the appropriate permission checks, regardless of the client used (visual energy Web or MS Excel).
User token
This token uses the user’s permission. Accordingly, the token is created or deleted in the user profile.
Role token
This token uses the role’s permissions. It is created or deleted for the relevant role.
Token properties
A token is a unique string of 32 characters consisting of letters and numbers. The token is generated by the system. In addition, a token has a creation date and an expiry date. Once the expiry date has passed, the token can no longer be used.
NOTICE

If Excel files are to be shared with access to visual energy data, it is generally advisable to use a role token. For security reasons, you should always avoid sharing your personal user token.
This allows appropriate role permissions for data access in the Excel analysis to be granted, regardless of the individual user’s permissions.
