Bus participants

Depending on the bus segment, KBR eBus, Modbus (RTU/TCP) and OPC (DA/UA) are supported.

Search for / create an eBus device

Each eBus device requires an eBus address that is unique on the connected segment. For devices with a display, the bus address can be set either via scan mode or manually, whereas for models without a display, only scan mode is used for address allocation. Please refer to the relevant device documentation to find out how to activate scan mode on the device.

Add an eBus device via scan mode

Set the eBus device to scan mode in accordance with the device documentation. Next, select the location and the bus segment in Busmaster Web. You can add another device using the button. In the following dialog box, click the Search button to search the selected segment for participants in scan mode.

Please ensure that only one participant is in scan mode at any one time and wait until an address has been assigned. On the device, this is typically indicated by the LEDs stopping flashing.

Add a device via manual address allocation

For devices with a display and buttons, the eBus address can also be set manually. Please make sure that the address has not already been assigned. You can then search the relevant address range using the button.

Add a Modbus device

Once a Modbus segment has been created, a Modbus participant can be added using the button. You can choose from the following device types:

The multimess D9-PQ is a Class A power quality measuring device. All relevant data points are implemented in the driver. The generic device essentially allows you to customise any Modbus device individually. Medium-specific meters, on the other hand, are defined using a predefined set of OBIS measured variables. In each case, only one register assignment needs to be carried out.

In all cases, the Modbus address must be entered. You will also need the Modbus registers and the Modbus data types for the specific assignment.

Add an OPC device

Once an OPC segment has been created, an OPC participant can be added using the button. You can choose from the following device types:

The generic device essentially allows any OPC device to be customised individually. Medium-specific meters, on the other hand, are defined using a predefined set of OBIS measured variables. In each case, only one register assignment needs to be carried out.

First define the required “device” and then assign the relevant OPC items to the data points.
