Edit data

In the “Data Collection” section, navigate to the metering point and then to the relevant measured variable. Select the “Edit” option.

Extensive data manipulation, including permanent deletion of data, is possible. The “Metering points” medium permission with “Edit” or “Full” access is required.

Editing may result in implausible data.

The data editor is used to edit (manipulate) the measurement data for a metering point. The following functions are available:

Any data manipulation results in status 1 (replacement value) or worse. Status 0 (original value) cannot be generated using the data editor.

Depending on the OBIS type, the following restrictions apply:

1 – Load profile: Adding values is not possible

8 – PQ Expert: Editing not possible

Recommended procedure

The data editor is divided into three areas:

  1. Query area
  2. Editor
  3. Graphical review area

The following approach is recommended:

  1. Select the records to be manipulated using a query.
  2. Modify the selected records (e.g. scaling, importing).
  3. Check the result of the modification graphically.
  4. Save the modified records.

If changes are made, the updated data will only be applied after you explicitly select the Save button.

More extensive changes should always be carried out step by step, saving after each step.

Query data

A query can be used to select the exact records to be manipulated. Query clauses define the criteria, with each clause consisting of a field (value, start date, end date, etc.), an operator (=, <, >, etc.) and a value parameter. For example, a clause might read: Status = “4 – Missing value”. Only records that meet this criterion would then be selected. The result can be further restricted by adding additional clauses. Clauses can be grouped together and linked using “AND” or “OR”.

Queries can be saved for later use. This is particularly useful when working with more complex queries. If you need to pause your work and resume it later, simply select the saved query to load it.

If, for example, you want to select values prior to a specific date, you must add a further clause and, within this clause, select “Start date” or “End date” under “Field” and “<” as the “Operator”.

Edit a single record

By switching to the Edit area, you can manipulate the data previously selected via a query. A single value can be changed using the button.

The status is generally changed to status 1 – replacement value. If, on the other hand, the status is to be set to a value greater than 1, this must be done using the “Change status” function in the toolbar.

Measured value information / Note

Individual measured values may differ significantly due to events. Typical examples include meter replacement (when the meter reading decreases) or maintenance work. For explanatory purposes, a brief note of up to 512 characters can be stored directly with the relevant value. In a level-time chart, the display and editing of measured value information can be enabled via the channel properties. This displays existing measured value information. In addition, you can enter new measured value information by selecting an individual measured value.

Scaling data

The functions for scaling data series will be explained using example scenarios. Let us assume that incorrect current transformer parameters have been configured in a measuring instrument. Now that this has been identified and rectified, the consumption data that was previously recorded incorrectly is to be adjusted. To begin with, you will need to know the time range containing the incorrect data and the scaling factor. Run a query as described to select the incorrect records. Specify the time period as the criterion.

Then switch to the Edit area. The queried records are already highlighted. You can now select “Multiply by factor” from the toolbar and enter a scaling factor in the adjacent field. In our example, a 1,000 A current transformer is said to have been programmed incorrectly. However, the correct figure is 500 A. Accordingly, we multiply the selected records by 0.5. After selecting the [button graphic] “Execute” button and confirming the prompt, the records are adjusted accordingly. The status of the modified records is set to 1 – replacement value in each case.

To verify the changes, we will now switch to the graphical view. Here we can visually check the changes once more before they are actually written to the database.

Further changes may need to be made to the selected records. As long as the changes have not yet been saved, the individual editing steps can be undone in reverse order.

If you are satisfied with the result of the change, use the relevant button to save the records to the database.

Import data

The following rules apply to data import:

After querying and editing the data, or after importing it, it is advisable to check the changes visually. A chart view is automatically generated, showing both the original values and the modified data.

The Editor area lists the individual editing steps that have been carried out. The “Undo” button allows you to undo the last step.

Once you are happy with the result, you can select “Save” to apply the changes permanently. If you exit this section without saving, your changes will be discarded.
