“Market location” is a term used in the German energy market. At a market location, energy is either generated or consumed, and the market location is connected to the public grid. Various terms have been used for this in different legislative and regulatory texts. Among other things, the market location has previously been referred to as a delivery point, withdrawal point, exit point, measurement point or metering point. When establishing this term, the Federal Network Agency adopted the standardised designation “market location”. Each market location has a unique 11-digit ID (MALO ID).
By contrast, a metering location is the point at which energy is measured. The metering location continues to be identified by the metering point designation and corresponds to the metering point in visual energy.
In visual energy, the market location is only required if data is exchanged automatically via EDIFACT protocols (MSCONS) and the exchange includes market locations.
Relationship between market location and metering point (metering location)
Market locations and metering locations can be related to one another in various ways. The following relationships are possible in visual energy:
1:1 relationship – The market location contains exactly one metering point
1:n relationship – The market location contains several metering points
n:1 relationship – A metering point is used across several market locations by assigning some OBIS measured variables to one market location and other measured variables to another.
Set up market locations
Select the appropriate location medium. Select the map to open the list of market locations. You can create a new market location using the button. Metering points or individual measured variables from metering points can then be assigned to the market location (1:n). To set up an n:1 relationship, simply create several market locations and assign the metering location (metering point) to each of them.
During the MSCONS data import, the MALO ID can then be resolved and the measured variables assigned.
